Okay, this is a bit of a spoiler, but I just need to let all makers of romantic comedies know something:  NO woman, at any time, EVER is going to get up on a stage in front of hundreds of people and declare her love into a microphone to someone who may not return it. That is never going to happen, and I cringe every time this trope is introduced into a romantic comedy. Other than that, “The Holidate” is cute.   It has a cute star (Emma Roberts) who gets pressured to have a date whenever she goes to family holiday functions (my parents never once did this, and I did not get married until 35 but whatever) and a REALLY cute love interest (Luke Bracey) who I will forever refer to as “the poor-man’s Chris Hemsworth” who was WAY too hot to need a date at the holidays and looks amazing in a pea coat.  The movie tries to be a bit edgier than Hallmark fare with the introduction of profanity but otherwise, it is cute and predictable.

The council rules: Watch it and let Netlix know Luke Bracey needs some more movies!
